With spring officially upon us (cue applause!), it’s time to call up a few dear friends and invite them to dine among seasonal fare, delicious wine and good conversation. Spring and summer are, in fact, dinner party season! For styling expertise we turned to our friends at 100 Layer Cake – the internet's favorite place for events, weddings and creative pursuits alike. When creating a menu, we suggest keeping the food in line with our color palette and theme – in this case a relaxed garden party. Whoa Nelly Catering (whose focus is on sustainable Southern California catering) provided a beautiful, seasonal and delicious spread of shared plates including white bean and chickpea hummus, charred crostini with smoked ricotta, market lettuces, grilled flatbread with figs and late spring vegetables. In keeping with the simplistic theme, the best dessert is always pre-made! Gingersnap sandwich cookies – filled with vanilla bean buttercream – were a memorable and no-fuss addition to our party.
