The bedding that you’ve come to love over the past five years, now has the perfect sleepwear to match. Say good-bye to your old ratty t-shirt and say hello to soft, slouchy and breathable adult pajamas. Made in Portugal of 100% cotton, this new collection is quite literally, the cat’s pajamas. We sat down with our Chief Creative Officer, Amy Hoban to go behind the design of this timeless collection. From the perfect pants to grab a morning coffee in, to the Sleepshirt you’ll never want to take off, here’s Amy’s take on this cozy line...

The PJ Set is unisex. How did you decide on shape, style and fit?

Amy Hoban, Chief Creative Officer:We did a survey around the office when we were in the early stages of development to get a sense for what people liked to sleep in. Comfort and breathability were our biggest takeaways so we focused on making a structured version of your favorite worn in sleep shirt. Designing a unisex fit to the PJ set naturally gave the sleepwear collection a relaxed style and in order to provide accurate sizing, we split up the set by top and bottom so people can mix and match sizing to create their desired fit.

What inspired the three neutral colorways?

Amy:People love grey and it's flattering on everyone so we started there and then pulled from our bedding colors: Fogsurplus and slate. The slate has a moodier feel while surplus is a new, more fashion forward color that we've injected into our color palette.

Tell us about Gauze. What is made of, how does it feel and what made you choose this fabric for Sleepwear?

Amy:Gauze is an open weave made of 100% cotton. It's very soft and breathable and quickly has become on of the most requested fabrications by our customers since it was first introduced in our Cloud Cotton bedding setsrobe collection and as a throw. Its soft, slouchy and breathable qualities give it the ultimate lived-in feel – perfect for a great night's sleep.

The Gauze PJ Set includes a long-sleeved button-down top and lounge pants with a drawstring and a tapered elastic hem. What inspired this tapered style?

Amy:The tapered leg gives the pajamas more of a jogger leg. When we conducted our initial survey, it was clear that people wanted a lounge pant. Something they can wear beyond their bed and home (walking the dog or grabbing coffee) while looking relaxed but still put together.

The Sleepshirt has a henley-inspired top. Can you describe that style?

Amy:A Henley shirt is a classic pullover with 3-5 buttons on the front starting at the collar. This style is traditionally more casual, sporty and adjustable. The Sleepshirt has a flattering above-the-knee cut, with a drop tail hem for additional coverage so you can feel comfortable answering the door in it.

Who do you envision wearing this collection?

Amy:It's for people who prioritize comfort. Like our bedding, our Gauze Sleepwear is Oeko-Tex certified, meaning that these items surpass the highest safety and environmental protection standards, and are free of harmful chemicals and toxins. And beyond our core customers, I envision this collection being perfect for those heading home for the holidays – spending early mornings and late nights lounging with family. And, of course, for gifting. Not only is this collection extremely comfortable – it's safe and a timeless addition to anyone's nighttime routine.

How did you decide to create a sleepwear line that is exclusively Parachute?

The Gauze Sleepwear collection is a natural extension of the Parachute brand. We have become an authority in the bedroom space so creating a line of safe and comfortable sleepwear was the next logical step. For over five years our customers have been living in their spaces with us, creating lasting memories while building a comfortable life. Offering a line of sleepwear not only complements, but completes the existing #MyParachuteHome. This was an opportunity to round out the bedroom ecosystem in the most natural way and it does just that.
